All About the Feist Dog Breed When Compared with Hound Dog Breeds

 Many written accounts of dogs have been found various literary researches that date back to centuries. When we are talking of Fiest, a dog TYPE (generally not regarded as a breed) in particular, then it is not any new dog that we have come across in the last decade.


The poem 'The Beer Hunt's' also written about Feist, where in; it was mentioned as Fice; the poem was written by Abraham Lincoln. Feist is a breed of dogs that is quite small in terms of size and shape (often shorter than 18 inches/45 cm). These dogs weigh less than 30 lbs/14 Kg; their ears are placed high on their heads and the ears can be either button like, short & Family-Friendly Dog Breeds or, erect. These dogs have long legs, a short coat and a nose that is quite pointy. Their tail is either docked or bobtailed. They are known for their hunting skills more than for being show dogs. Their talents lie in hunting.


They may be either fine purebred (only two are recognized as actual breeds), mixed bred or crossed bred and are mostly identified for their fine hunting skills more than their looks and appearances.


Feists hunt down squirrels, rodents, badgers, European rabbits; and they love chasing these little creatures.


Fiest dog breeds are known for treeing; they locate their prey by keeping still and by using their eyes, ears and nose; and one they are able to locate it, they go ahead and begin their chase by treeing; once they have treed a squirrel, they will chase it continuously until it has been hunted down or has left the dog's area of vision.
